For sale is this very rare WW1 silver cased Royal Navy Admiralty issued deck watch by W J Johnson of Coventry no 343151, dating to 1916. HS3 designation to the case back, and matching numbers throughout. Fine gilt lever movement with Admiralty issue mark. The watch is in full working order by may require a service. The dial is in excellent condition with only one shallow flake at 6 which is almost un-noticeable. The watch is approx. 53mm in diameter excluding the winding crown. I have obtained a copy of the Admiralty Chronometer record for this watch. It was purchased on the 22nd Sept 1916 and  widely travelled. This watch was issued to HMS Hercules, a Battle Ship of the Mediterranean and Home Fleet. The watch was further issued to  HMS Keith a Destroyer, HMS Keith was sunk by enemy aircraft at the evacuation of Dunkirk in 1940. Deck watches from WW1 and from around the time of the Battle of Jutland are now quite rare. A copy of the service record will be supplied with the watch.
